Daniel Childs releases inspiring new single, "Survivor"

Largo, FL, 11.6.24

Though “Survivor” has already been out a few days, it’s taken me a while to write something about it because there’s so much to say. So I just wanna keep it simple!

I hope this song blesses you. It was wonderful to hear it on local FM radio yesterday. Even more wonderful has been the feedback I’ve received about how it’s encouraged people. Numerous friends have told me about how they relate to the song.

Sometimes the roads we travel in life get turbulent and tiresome, and in September, I was tired. I’m so grateful to make music for a living, but it isn’t without its challenges. This past summer I dealt with some difficult physical wellness issues while playing various shows, and dealt with a good bit of heat and weather. And while it was an amazing summer - it was sometimes very hard.

I sat down in the living room one day in September and started playing the chords to what would become “Survivor”. And the song concept began to form. My wife Norma heard the chords I was putting together and said to me “that song is from the Hand of God!”

After the Gulf Coast endured two hurricanes, the song made a whole new level of sense. Seeing the devastation that took place, and the way people rose up to take action, made “Survivor” feel more like an anthem than a song.

This song is an anthem for anyone who has endured challenges but not given up. And for me, it’s an acknowledgment that I never could have made it alone. I have seen that the seasons in our lives are part of a plan that’s greater than anything we could ever grasp. Some call it luck, but I call it amazing grace.

To share one of my favorite pieces of Scripture…

“We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.”
‭‭- 2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬
